![]() Baba Ramdev alleges that Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid attended Kamran Siddiqui's book release. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Sunday accused the Congress of conspiring against him to derail his fight against black money and corruption. DuringAaj Tak's Seedhi Baat programme, Ramdev alleged that the Congress was behind the Saturday attack on him. "The attacker, Kamran Siddiqui, can be seen in a picture with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. The Congress has to justify that. Secondly, Law Minister Salman Khurshid went for Siddiqui's book release... It has come to light that the Congress government even paid Rs 20 lakh to his NGO. This is a serious matter. I am not making accusations. But whatever is wrong has to be condemned," he toldHeadlines Today executive editor Rahul Kanwal. Ramdev pointed out that a senior Congress leader had reacted to the attack on him by saying, "Jo jaise karega, wo waise bharega (As you sow, so shall you reap)". "This is proof enough that the Congress is encouraging such attacks on me," he said. Referring to the notices from the Enforcement Directorate and Income-Tax department regarding foreign exchange violations, he said: "All the agencies are under their influence... It has been more than six months, but have they been able to find even one rupee of the illegal money?" Accusing the Congress of misusing power, Ramdev backed Anna Hazare's call for a strong Lokpal. "An independent Lokpal should be appointed to eliminate corruption and the CBI's investigative wing should be under its purview," he said. He also denied having differences with Hazare. "I was always with him and will remain so to fight against corruption and black money," he said. The yoga guru drew a parallel between the fight for democracy in the Arab world and his own campaign against black money. "In a country such as Libya, whose GDP is Rs 3.7 lakh crore, Gaddafi had more than Rs 10 lakh crore of assets. It was just one Gaddafi there, but we have many Gaddafis here," Ramdev said. The yoga guru also had a word of advice for Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi. "We want to tell Rahul that when you go and eat at a poor man's house, he gets poorer. Do something that will make that poor man eat the kind of food you get." |

- Angry supporters of Baba Ramdev on Monday defaced Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s portrait on the billboard outside the AICC headquarters in an apparent retaliation of the ‘ink attack’ on the Yoga Guru at a press conference on Saturday.A delegation of 20 to 25 Ramdev supporters, under the aegis of the Yuva Bharat Kisan Panchayat, had gathered at 24, Akbar Road at about 4.45 PM and were shouting slogans against Sonia and other Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Digivijay Singh. They said the attack on the religious leader will not be tolerated. Suddenly, one of them threw black paint on Sonia’s poster.Immediately, Congress workers and many ticket seekers came out and started thrashing the protestors leading to a clash between the two sides. The police arrived on the scene and arrested the man who had blackened the poster. He was identified as Tribhuvan and was taken to the Tughlak Road Police Station where he was questioned.Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi termed it as handiwork of political opponent BJP. He said the BJP was indulging in such “extremely tragic and cheap antics” which demean the Indian democracy. He said that it establishes their “utter frustration with the certain knowledge of the certain defeat” in the coming Assembly polls and that certain fringe and marginal elements trying to promote BJP have also contributed to it. He, however, did not name Ramdev.Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said it was a larger conspiracy between the BJP and Ramdev as both the incidents of ink throwing were meant to rehabilitate the Yoga Guru into the mainstream politics. He said that the two used Kamran Sidiqui, who was earlier the poll agent of BJP leader Rajnath Singh, for throwing ink at Ramdev earlier. Calling Ramdev “a thug” , Digvijay said that he was being investigated by various agencies for money laundering and violating the law of the land.Ramdev ‘s spokesperson said the Yoga Guru disapproved of the incident and termed it as “undemocratic and uncivilised”. “We neither support such undemocratic and uncivilised act nor are part of it,” the spokesperson said adding Ramdev was against any kind of violent or indecent methods of protest against anyone and urged people not to indulge in or promote such “indecent and ugly acts.” Gandhian Anna Hazare also disapproved of the act of defacing Sonia’s portrait.
