Did Chidambaram walk out of Express awards? More power to you, Gopikrishna - Kalyanaraman

Did Chidambaram walk out of Express awards?

23 January 2012
The grapevine is that some ministers boycotted events in which media houses had chosen members of Team Anna for awards last year. Now, this item appears in the gossip columns of The Sunday Guardian.
Apparently home minister P. Chidambaram vamoosed from theRamnath Goenka excellence in journalism awards function organised by The Indian Express after he found that 2G scam-buster J. Gopikrishnan of The Pioneer had been picked for the best print journalist f the year.
Orders have been reserved for February 4 on Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy‘s plea seeking to make Chidambaram a party in the 2G scam, alongside A. Raja, who was felled by Gopikrishnan.

‘The Pioneer’ journo who brought Raja to book

15 November 2010

So, who gets the credit for the resignation, at long last, of Union telecommunications minister A. Raja in the 2G spectrum allocation scam?
The Pioneer, Delhi, has put its hand up–first.
Its front-page lead story today says:
“Two years after The Pioneer first exposed the 2G spectrum scam, pegged at Rs 1.70 crore by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), the DMK Minister became a casualty of sustained Opposition pressure, intense media scrutiny and public debate….
“The one man who gets full credit for the fall of Raja is undoubtedly The Pioneer’s special correspondent J. Gopikrishnan, who first blew the whistle on the 2G spectrum scam in December 2008. Thereafter, he wrote as many as 70 incisive stories on the scam, exposing various facets of Raja’s murky designs in spectrum allotment. Gopi launched the crusade and kept it going when few others dared to take on the ‘mighty’ Raja.”
